ORAL HISTORY NSW REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT GRANT

The Oral History NSW Regional Engagement Grant aims to raise the profile of oral history in regional areas and extend its expertise and use throughout New South Wales. The $1500 biennial grant* is aimed at librarians, archivists, museum curators, artists, film-makers, independent oral historians or community groups based in regional areas in NSW who wish to develop an oral history project that illuminates some aspect of their regional area which is of significance or interest to others.

*Oral History NSW reserves the right to suspend the grant if funding is unavailable at any time.
All applications will be assessed based on merit. Oral History NSW reserves the right to not award a grant if applications received do not satisfy all criteria or reflect the required standard. One successful application will be selected as the grant recipient.


Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • Be a current financial member of Oral History NSW.

  • Propose a project based in regional NSW.

  • Write a final report on their use of the grant within 12 months of being awarded the funding, the report will be shared via Oral History NSW website, social media and newsletter.

  • Use the grant in its entirely within 12 months after it is awarded.

  • Archive the oral histories in an accessible public institution. Oral History NSW may assist the grant recipient to identify and approach an appropriate institution.

  • Give a short presentation on their project online hosted by Oral History NSW

Purpose and Use:

This grant supports members of Oral History NSW to develop and deliver regional oral history projects through training, mentoring, and project assistance.

Examples of how funding may be used:

  • Venue or equipment hire, or equipment purchase required for the project.

  • Mentoring and advice on project planning and implementation.

  • Other associated or supporting costs related to the project

Funding cannot be used to pay presenter fees for workshops or training. However, the grant may cover reasonable travel, accommodation and daily expenses incurred by oral historians delivering workshops for project training or mentoring support.
